Horrocks: We want to be the best
New boss Sean Horrocks is setting his sights high as he prepares for his first season with the club.
Horrocks – a former youth coach at Padiham – is looking forward to getting started in his new role.
“The first goal will be to get us going in pre-season, to get the players down and get together whenever that’s safe to do so,” he said.
“With the pandemic that’s going on, we’re not sure when we’re going to be up and running on that front.
“But as a target for the season, it’s probably the same as every other team – we want to go and win the league.
“We want to be as successful as we can, and there’s no better success than winning the league.”
When football returns, Horrocks’ side will be playing and training at the Stanley Sports Hub in Accrington.
And the new boss is excited by the state-of-the-art facility.
“I’ve not been down there yet, but I’ve looked at pictures of it and the 3G pitch looks an absolute belter,” he said.
“It’s something we’re looking forward to getting started on as soon as we possibly can, getting the players bedded in.
“Hopefully, we can have a successful season down there.”
Horrocks has brought in several new coaches, including former Burnley United boss Steve Cross.
“I actually played under Steve at Burnley United probably 10 years ago,” said Horrocks.
“We’ve stayed in close contact since then, and we’ve got the same type of philosophy and style of football that we like to play.
“Because the relationship is that good, it just felt like a no-brainer to get back together and give this opportunity our full backing.”
