REPORT: AFC Burnley 3 AFC Bolton 1
AFC Burnley kicked off their pre-season preparations with a win over AFC Bolton at the Stanley Sports Hub.
Mark Taylor, Matty Ashworth and Jonny Carlin all got on the scoresheet in an impressive second half display.
The visitors started brightly and nearly took an early lead when Daniel Jackson made a vital block on the line.
The hosts then enjoyed a good spell of pressure, with Bolton’s goalkeeper making a couple of smart stops.
On the verge of half-time, Burnley were caught out by a long ball but Shane Hudson made a fine save to keep the scores level.
After the break, the hosts took the lead when Taylor’s low drive across goal flew in off the post.
And Burnley doubled their lead moments later when Ashworth’s effort took a nick off a Bolton defender and looped over the goalkeeper.
The visitors pulled one back after a quick counter attack, before Hudson made another good stop low to his left.
Inside the final 10 minutes, Carlin wrapped up the win with a clinical finish after a slick passing move.
Sean Horrock’s men are back in action on Tuesday night when they host Squires Gate (KO 7:30).
