REPORT: Wardle 1 AFC Burnley 4
AFC Burnley recorded their first league win of the season after an impressive performance at Wardle.
Dale Brown, James Crorken, Liam Harrison and Mark Taylor all got on the scoresheet.
Burnley took an early lead when Brown found the corner with a thumping strike from distance after some good hold-up play by Jonny Carlin.
The hosts then went close with a dipping effort that glanced the far post, before Dean Hardy made a smart stop.
Wardle had the ball in the net on the verge of half-time but the offside flag was up.
After the break, the visitors doubled their lead when Crorken provided a clever finish after meeting Paul Hanson’s free kick.
And substitute Harrison added a third on the hour-mark after Carlin’s initial effort had been saved.
Hensby then struck the post after a dangerous cut-back from the right, before Wardle were also denied by the woodwork at the other end.
Inside the final 10 minutes, the hosts pulled one back with a composed finish from close range.
But Burnley sealed the win in injury time when Taylor got in behind and slotted past the goalkeeper.
