REPORT: Old Blackburnians 1 AFC Burnley 6
AFC Burnley recorded their third win of the season after a dominant display against Old Blackburnians.
James Crorken scored a hat trick with Connolly Steen and Richard Cowan also getting on the scoresheet.
Burnley started strongly and went in front when Steen found the top corner with a superb strike from the edge of the area.
The visitors doubled their lead moments later when Crorken slotted home after a quick break down the left wing.
And the former Barnoldswick Town man doubled his tally with a deft header from Wez Hensby’s free-kick on the half-hour mark.
The home side pulled one back on the verge of half time when Burnley were undone by an inviting cross from the right flank.
After the break, substitute Liam Harrison restored Burnley’s three-goal cushion with a simple finish from close range.
Cowan then added a fifth with a towering header from Crorken’s out-swinging corner midway through the half.
And Crorken completed his hat trick inside the final 10 minutes with another smart finish, wrapping up a big win on the road.
“I thought we handled the conditions really well,” said manager Sean Horrocks.
“We got the ball down and played football. Over the 90 minutes, I thought we controlled the game and deserved to win.
“The most pleasing thing is that there are goals coming from all over the pitch.”
