REPORT: AFC Burnley 3 Todmorden Borough 0
AFC Burnley made it back-to-back wins after a strong performance against Todmorden Borough at the Stanley Sports Hub.
Josh Cook, Shane Holding and James Crorken were all on target in the second half.
Burnley almost took an early lead when the Todmorden goalkeeper made a fine save to deny Liam Harrison from distance.
Crorken then went close with a glancing header before a Todmorden forward dragged wide after a good run.
On the verge of half-time, Dale Brown’s effort was blocked on the line before the goalkeeper made another smart stop.
Early in the second half, the hosts went ahead through Cook’s emphatic strike from outside the area.
And Burnley doubled their lead when substitute Holding slotted home from close range after meeting Connell’s low cross.
The forward nearly had a second moments later, but the goalkeeper was alert to the danger once again.
With 10 minutes to go, Hensby found Crorken in the box and the midfielder provided a composed finish to wrap up the win.
“In the first half we were up against the wind and battled really well defensively,” said manager Sean Horrocks.
“In the second half our quality came into play and we saw some really good goals. It’s a good performance and we can all go home happy tonight.”
