AFC Partners with Rosegrove FC

AFC Burnley & Rosegrove Football Club are delighted to announce a new partnership between the two clubs and the establishment of the AFC Burnley Under-18s team for the 2021/22 season.

The partnership shows intent from both clubs on providing a clear pathway for junior players from Rosegrove FC into adult football at AFC Burnley, with the U18’s being the perfect environment for inclusion, development and progression.

Both clubs’ attitude and ethos are very similar, and the commitment of both parties was evident from the first conversation. Being confident in partnering with the right people will always be critical, and several natural crossovers between the two clubs already exist, which solidified our early confidence. The natural friendships and relationships across both clubs will undoubtedly become a vital strength of a partnership and its growth.

Alongside the progression pathway into adult football, the partnership will also allow both clubs to support each other’s work and work together on coach recruitment, development, the signposting of playing inquiries, and promoting each other’s good work locally.

“I’m delighted to link up with Rosegrove FC and start our new journey with the U18s,” said vice chairman Ben Reuven.

“The club is always looking to progress and improve, and we believe we’re doing just that with this new team. We hope this will show a clear pathway from underage football to the senior game in its different levels whilst adhering to the club ethos of togetherness, enjoyment and development.”

Rosegrove chairman Michael Cain added: “This partnership represents a fantastic opportunity to facilitate the transition of junior to adult football for Rosegrove FC.

“Establishing a strategic partnership with another local club makes sense, as it allows us to focus on trying to offer the best junior football experience across all of our age groups in the foundation phase and youth development phase, where players can flourish and enjoy the game.

“It’s a relationship with a great fit too, as AFC Burnley has a lot of familiar faces to me, so I know that our values are aligned. The potential to share ideas, recruitment strategies and help push each other’s activities is something we are very much looking forward to.

“I’m excited to see our first crop of young talent make the step into adult football, while slightly disappointed to be losing a valued coaching team – who will make the step up with the players, having dedicated their time for several years at the club. Volunteers like that are hard to come by and will be sorely missed.

“Our thanks to them, the players and their parents who have been magnificent supports of the club throughout the years.”
