REPORT: Old Boltonians Reserves 1 AFC Burnley 6
AFC Burnley continued their unbeaten start in the Lancashire Amateur League Cup with a convincing win at Old Boltonians Reserves.
Dale Brown bagged a brace with Aaran Smith, Sohaib Ahmed, Matty Ashworth and Danny Maymond also getting on the scoresheet.
The hosts took an early lead through a clinical finish after Burnley were caught out by a cross from the left wing.
The visitors hit back through Brown, who gave the goalkeeper no chance with a thumping effort from the edge of the area.
The midfielder doubled his tally moments later with another pinpoint strike to put Burnley in front.
Early in the second half, Smith smashed home a third after Ahmed’s effort was pushed back into the danger area.
Ahmed then found space inside the box and kept his composure to beat the onrushing goalkeeper.
Ashworth tapped home a fifth from close range after some good work by Connolly Steen on the left flank.
Maymond, making his first team debut, wrapped up the win with a clinical header from Simon Orwin’s cross late on.
