Horrocks: We’re up for the challenge

AFC Burnley boss Sean Horrocks is looking forward to his side’s Lancashire Amateur League Cup semi-final at the weekend.

After finishing top of Group A, Horrocks’ men face Jogabola at the Stanley Sports Hub on Saturday afternoon for a place in next month’s final.

“We know it will be a tough game,” he said.

“We don’t fear anyone. We’ve got confidence in our ability but we’ve got to perform well and make sure we’re at it from minute one.

“I believe that if our work rate is good, our ability will shine through.”

Horrocks’ men were in good form before the Lancashire Amateur League was cancelled due to Covid-19, having lost just one game.

The boss admits it has been a challenging season and wants to finish on a high.

“As management staff it’s been quite frustrating,” he added.

“We had built up momentum in the months before the break and the time off affected us. We were back to square one through no fault of the players.

“I think we’ve got back to where we need to be now. Everyone is focused on the semi-final and wants to get through to the final next month.”
